What to Wear for a Company Photo Session:

Ultimate Guide for a Confident Look

Is your company having new headshots taken and you are struggling with what to wear? Or you hired a photographer (or me!) for new LinkedIn photos? Here is a complete guide for you that I share with my clients before every company photoshoot! This applies to all locations - offices, studios and outdoor!

Keep it simple

While I understand that the t-shirt you recently bought at a concert of your favorite band might be your favorite, please remember that prints and bold patterns are not a good choice when it comes to photography in general.

For a professional photoshoot, it is also better to restrain from very small patterns like plaid/checkered patterns, very small stripes etc, as this tends to create an optical effect called moiré on the photos and it is very hard to edit out.

Neutral colours

Unless you want to go fully in brand with your company colours, please wear neutral colours that fit in with any environment but also your colleagues that will be on the same image with you. Light blue, taupe greys, beiges, navy blue or black colour work well. I prefer light colours in general as less dust/fabric fraying shows up on your clothes.

Glasses

Do you have a spare pair of glasses with not light filters? If yes, please bring them to the photo session.

Glasses reflect light and some glass filters create pink/blue/green reflections that are difficult to work with. I might also ask you during the session to take off your glasses and maybe hold them in your hands.

Make it fit!

Make sure that your clothes fit you well and you feel comfortable and confident wearing them!

Jewellery

Simple jewellery, like small earring loops and your wedding band look good. Bring your favorite watch, if you have one. However, try to keep it minimal, so that all jewellery fits with all your outfits.

Layer up!

Nothing makes your wardrobe more interesting as layers. Think of cardigans, vests, blazers, and scarfs. We can play with them to create the look that works best for you and the photo itself!

Not sure what to wear?

Bring spare clothes! If the conditions allow, you can always mix&match your outfit. I do not put outfit restrains on my sessions.

And if you are unsure, you can always send me a picture and I can help you choose before our session!
