Why you should always book a maternity session

Memories are priceless. Capturing them gives me great honor to connect not only with you, my clients, but also with your future family. However, quite often I hear my friends and/or my clients say: I don’t want maternity photos. I look horrible/fat/it’s winter, so what’s the point/I have too much acne…etc. You get the point.

Let me tell you a little story. When I was just a baby, my parents got divorced. I grew up with my mom and visited my dad on the weekends. My parents despise each other, unfortunately. I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty, that’s not the point of this story.

As you can guess, there are exactly ZERO photos of my parents together. There are ZERO photos of my mom with me in her belly. Those memories were too painful for her to keep, I guess.

For me, there is a big black hole instead of knowing where I came from or what was before I turned 1 year old. Memories are not just for you. They are for your children, grandchildren and so on. They tell a story. One that does not need to be pretty, one that does not need to be bad. A story that simply tells what happened.

I would give anything to see a photo of my mom pregnant with me. And I wouldn’t care if she was too big, too small or too swollen. I would feel connected.
